Pet Pages

Title sez it all, no?

Well, the title should say it all - this is my PET PAGE!  This page is dedicated to my pets - past and present - and how they came into my life!  It means so much to have a pet.  They're always there when I need them and can be my best friends...  I would never BUY a pet from a store or a breeder - there are just WAY too many animals out there that need homes and loving families...  Adopt one from a pound or a shelter or from one of many of the online 'Rescue' center websites....

JULE and SPOOKY

Meet Jule and Spooky.

Jule is my oldest 'kid', at just about 8 years old.  She was adopted from the Long Beach animal shelter.  We walked into the 'cat house' and I was super excited - I was getting a pet!!!  Well, I was already across the room when my pal was following me into the space.  He kept turning towards the door, asking 'WHAT?' to the empty space behind.  Finally, on his 3rd 'WHAT?!?' I noticed a small, silver & grey paw snaking from the cage.  It was love at first site and kismet.  She's a bit of a beggar - anytime I'm in the kitchen, she comes running, talking and rubbing against me, hoping for some extra treat or something.

Spooky, so named as he's spooked by just about EVERYTHING in the world, was from a litter of kittens from a friend of a friend.  He's just a little over 3 years old right now, and is mostly healthy and loves attention.  He sits on my desk any time I'm on the computer, but doesn't touch the mouse or keyboard.  He's a bit high-strung and stressed, and has this really bad habit of scratching and chewing his fur!  YIKES!!!  At his worst, he's nearly bald!  Maybe Telly Savales would have been a better name!!!

Dice's Story

Dice was adopted about 7 years ago from the same OC Animal Shelter that Nibbler is from.  I'd wanted a dog and I went to the local LB shelter, but just didn't find a connection.  Somebody told me about the OC Shelter and so, off we went.  Again, I was wandering about the kennels, looking for my new pal, and nobody really struck me - except for this cute little 7 month old lab puppy.  But, his info card was missing, usually meaning he was being adopted by somebody....  So, I kept looking.  Half an hour later, he was still there, all alone, without any info card.  So, I asked my pal to go and find out about him.  Turns out, he had only been 'turned in' that morning, and they hadn't had a chance to create the card!  Needless to say, we had bonded during this time and he was adopted.  He needed his shots, but they did it that day and Dice came home.

Dice was named thus, due to the white on his chest - when he was a puppy, it was arranged in dots; well GROUPS of dots - 1 dot, 2 dots and then 3 dots - reminding me of a white on black die cube...

Dice grew too big for my apartment and my subsequent condo, so he was moved to my mom's place in Vegas.  Her house and yard are better suited for him, plus he doesn't like to be alone - and her 2 dogs (Mimi and Bo) are perfect companions for him.  He's older now, and takes care of Mimi & Bo...  And, of course, my mom.

Meet NIBBLER

Meet NIBBLER.  Nibbler was adopted on June 20, 2004, from a local animal shelter.  He is listed as being a 'Cocker Spaniel' mix by the shelter, but he sure looks like a Beagle to me!  In this picture, he's only 2 months old.  So, he's a handful.  But, with training and love, I know he will become the happy kid I expect him to be!

Jule and Spooky (below) are still adapting to the newest addition.  Spooky is far more adventurous and is reaching out to his new brother - but he's just a little put off by the puppy's energy and hyperness!  Jule, however, will have nearly NOTHING to do with Nibbler - but she'll warm up eventually...  It took her a while with Spooky.  It took her a while with Dice....  It will take a while, here.
