My rides - past and present...

Rides of my past.

These are various images of my previous cars - and a few others, as well.....  Some of these cars may still be on the road somewhere - some may have been crushed or wrecked.

1986 Dodge 600 ES Turbo Convertible

This is my 'other' ride - although he's needing some work.  I purchased this car a few years back, from the original owner down in San Diego.  This 1986 'restyled' 600 ES is a somewhat low volume model, as less than 1/4 of the total 600 convertible production was the ES model.  In 86, they gave the front end a flatter grill texture, and cleaned up some of the side trims.  Plus, they had to add the federally mandated high mount brake lamp on the trunk lid.  The Dodge 600 convertible was a near twin to the Chrysler LeBaron, but was a bit more sporty than the LeBaron.  The ES model took that sportiness to a new level, by blacking out a lot of the chrome trim and adding the 15 inch alloy wheels from the Daytona Shelby and a standard 2.2 liter Turbo engine.

1985 Dodge 600 ES Turbo convertible.

This one was the predecessor to the Gray Ghost above.  This was purchased near new (it was a demo at a local dealer with only a few hundred miles).  This was the 2nd year for the ES models, and this was the original look of the car.  Unlike the 86 model, this one had a sportier front end, with a slat styled grill and seperate headlamps.  There was also a standard deck lid luggage rack and fender 'vents' on the sides.  I like this style a bit more than the facelifted  86 model above.

2001 Chrysler PT Cruiser Limited Edition

This is my pal's 2001 PT Cruiser.  When these littls wagons came on the market, I wasn't that intrigued with them.  Sure, they were cute and all, but they didn't rock my world.  After having driven this one around a lot, I've gotten a great appreciation for these l'il cuties.  When this concept was first introduced, it was going to be another in Plymouth's return to the market with special niche cars - like the Prowler model was before the PT's arrival.  However, unlike the Prowler, the PT would be a mass market car and far more affordable for the everyman (or woman!).....  Based on the Neon, it proved to be a great seller when added to Chrysler's line up in 2001.  And it became a Chrysler when the Plymouth nameplate was abandoned in 2000.

1990 Dodge Grand Caravan LE

This was the first foray into the Mopar Minivan world.  After years of having the use of them from the rental car place I managed, my mom got interested in them enough to want one.  So, this baby, dubbed the Niner Van, was born.  We called it the Niner Van because of our fanship of the San Francisco 49er football team, and because of the color combination - the pretty Claret Red and Black Cherry metallic paint job.  I added the 5 layer gold stripe around the van and it really had a distinctive look.  And, speaking of distinctive - I took this picture at a beach in the Half Moon Bay area of Northern California, where we stopped for a picnic/bbq by the sea.  While it looks like I'm right on the sand, I had parked on a bluff above the beach....  Great shot, no?

1994 Chrysler Town & Country

This was the beginning of something big.  When the Niner Van needed some replacing - just because mom wanted something NEW - this one was found.  Mom fell in love with the deep Sapphire blue metallic and the super plush all leather interior.  Big Blue (as he's called) has been all across the country and travels regularly from his home in Las Vegas to cities in California on a regular basis.  He's even a bit of an international traveler, going to Ensenada and Rosarito Beach in Mexico.

This is one of my favorite images

This picture was taken on the roadside in Northern California, in the hills above Saratoga and Los Gatos.  We were out driving around in my 1984 Plymouth Reliant S/E coupe.  My pal and I had pulled off the side of the road and this shot was born.  He was standing on the embankment at the side of the road and jumped off....  I just got this pic at the right time.  It's got a kind of surreal feeling to it, I think.

And my Woodie again - 1994 Chrysler Town & Country AWD

Here's another shot of my Woodie - the 1994 Chrysler Town & Country All Wheel Drive model.  This picture was taken after a full day 'beauty' treatment that I gave Woodie and my pal's pretty PT, above.

I do not require total submission, just strengths that mesh.
